Welcome to The SchoolTimes

Read all about it!

Hooray! After weeks of meetings and interviews with teachers and fellow pupils, it has finally been decided to start our own newspaper - so cool. This is of course great news for all our sporting codes and cultural associations, as it will give us a platform to advertise upcoming matches and events, and also to report back on how things went. We have decided to call our paper The SchoolTimes, to remind us of the best times of our life (lol!)

Best news of all, is that we're going online too! Okay, pretty modest beginnings - just the local intranet for now - but if everything works out and g-r-o-w-s as it should, we may be looking at publishing on the BIG BIG INTERNET towards the end of the year: maybe using WordPress? They say that your website is your window to the world. Well, the sky is certainly the limit for "movers and shakers" like us. Just watch this space ...

Articles

This is where YOU come in. We'd love to receive articles from you - just remember they may not be more than 300 words long, and should be written in English so that all our readers can read them. Think of them as very short essays - use what you have learned in your language subjects about brainstorming, drafting, editing, paragraph structure and grammar. And don't forget to proofread! Please e-mail your finished article, together with supporting photos, to ChiefEd@gmail.com

Types of articles we would like to publish:

  • Sports matches
  • Individual achievements
  • Investigative articles
  • Reviews (books, movies, games, etc.)
  • Trends (fashions, fitness, social media, etc.)
  • Technology (useful websites, new cellphone models, etc.)

Upcoming School Events

A good newspaper is one that reports on good 'stories' and events that are interesting in themselves and well written. Herein lies a great opportunity for everyone who is at all handy with a pen (or a keyboard - duh!) and a camera. Anyway a number of exciting events have been planned for this year, and each one has the potential to become something special and worthy to be remembered one day - BUT ONLY IF it gets captured in writing or in picture/s. Come on guys, make every effort to become involved. Be one of those that make things happen , not one of those that stand back and wonder what happened!
