Information Technology
The introduction of the FET has seen a number of new challenges in terms of content and assessment
techniques and strategies. With this webpage we want to offer support to teachers who use our books:
Enjoy Delphi and/or Computers, part of your life (IT).

Tests and examinations / Toetse en eksamens
By definition, the exam papers are examples, which can be adapted to suit the
specific learning environment of your classes. This sharing of ideas is paramount
to smoothing the way forward and getting to grips with the new standards
associated with the FET.

Gr 11 IT textbook
The activities of Module 3.5 Development of Programs and Systems of the
Gr 11 IT book (Computers, part of your life Part 2, A textbook for Information
Technology) refer to certain files.
You can download them here.
In the gr. 12 PAT learners are required to hand in an analysis and design
document, a technical manual and a user guide as well as their program and a
printout of the code of the program.
As learners are mainly not used to handing in these type of documents, many
learners feel that they do not know what these documents should include.
Although the learners are not required to make these documents nearly as
complete as the documents prepared for this module, these documents can give
them a very useful guideline to make their documentation for the PAT. The
depth of the documentation required for the PAT is described in the learners
guidelines for each phase and can also be seen in the assessment tools, but
using the basic idea of these design documents can make it a lot easier for
the learners to understand what is expected of them.

Solution for Enjoy Delphi, Part 2, Page 197, No 1
The solution to Test Improve Apply 1 on page 197 of the book Enjoy
Delphi part 2 was developed as one program containing all the queries,
calculations and reports specified in nrs 1.1 1.15. It is possible
to let learners do each of these programs in a separate application
this will simplify the code considerably. Because the solution has been
coded as one program, but entails manipulation of two different tables
in the program, the TableName property of the ADOTable component had to
be changed dynamically in the program.
The program also contains a number of techniques to make it more
user-friendly and robust. These techniques have been explained in the code
through comments.
Naming conventions used in the program are sometimes different from
those used in the book. For example the ADOTable component is named adoX,
instead of tblEmployees. A field in the table is also addressed as for
example adoX.FieldByName('TITLE').AsString instead of adoX[TITLE].
